Minutes of the Regular Meeting
October 9, 2001
Ken Wilkens, K1MID, set up his “fox” prior to the meeting. Frequency of the fox is 147.455 MHZ.
President Jason Greene, N1IIC, called the meeting to order
at 7:14 P.M. at the Hopkinton Library site.
Twenty one (21) members and one guest (Mark Weber) were in
attendance.
Larry Damour, N1PHV and Dale Gagnon, KW1I, brought along with them some of their military radios from their collections. Lively discussions about the history, capabilities, frequency ranges, manufacture of those units ensued. Dale even demonstrated his antique “53” Jeep with a full set of radios mounted in it.
After the program there was break from 8:13 to 8:40 pm.
Announcements and Information:
1. Dale Clement, AF1T, talked about the Fire Tower on Craney Hill being open to visitors for another weekend, this coming weekend of Oct. 13.
2. Jason Greene, N1IIC read a letter written by Scott Clay, N1ZGO, in reference to his visit with Bob Sanborn, W1BDC, at the Veterans’ Home in Tilton.
3. Al Marin, K1CYJ, read a letter of thanks from Todd Rowell of the Northeast Bicycle Club. He especially thanked Steve Ingham, N1HXO, and the club members who supported the bike race on August 12.
Technical Portion of the Program
Al Marin, K1CYJ, gave a short talked on the merits of electronic QSL’ing.
Old Business
Treasurer’s Report:
Dave Connors, N1TKP, reported that the checkbook balance was at $1784.47. Eighty dollars was spent on the repeater during the summer on repairs and $75 was taken in sales at the club table at Hosstraders. He also urged all to start paying their dues for next year. Moved and Accepted.
Even with the solid 7 minutes of rain, the event
was a great success.
ARES:
Tom Matisko, N1SKZ, reported the following:
1.
Rob, K1CFI, provided the leadership for the talk-in
for the Hosstraders at the Hopkinton Fair Grounds – Columbus Day weekend.
2.
November 17th is the date set for the
combined Red Cross and Fire Department training in Concord. The SET will also occur that day. The High School, Chapter House and a few
other places around town will be sites for the training. The Concord Fire Station’s amateur station
will be on the air during the exercise.
3.
The Hillsboro Police chief will be contacted to
determine if there will be a need for communications during the “Pumpkin
Patrol.”
Membership:
Dave, N1TKP, Reported that the club is 101
strong.
Repeater:
Tom, N1SKZ, suggested that an upgrade be done on the
transmitter section of the Club Repeater, K1BKE. Chris Sieg, WA3LDI, will do
pricing for the work.
Don Curtis, N1ZIH, said that the newsletter was
going in the mail Oct. 10.
Programs:

December, Christmas Party, Dave, N1TKP, will make
reservations at the Cat n Fiddle in Concord.
Public Service:
1.
October 13 – Regatta in Manchester. Point of Contact is Bob Raiche. The start
point is at the Memorial Park in Hooksett.
Time: 7:30 – 8:30.
2.
October 14 – Bike Race in Weare, Sugar Hill Speedway. The Club repeater was requested with no
tone. Time: 8:30 – 2:30.
3.
October 14 – Walk for Diabetes in Manchester. Time: 8:30 – noon. Repeater: 147.330.
4.
October 20 - 21 – Boy Scout Jamboree, JOTA, Camp Carpenter.
