Contoocook Valley Radio Club
Business Meeting
December 18, 2001
The dinner meeting was held in the Duggan Room at the Sampan
Chinese Restaurant in Hillsboro, NH From 6 pm to 9 pm.
Members in
attendance: Jason Greene, N1IIC; Dale
Clement, AF1T; Al Marin, K1CYJ, and Shawn Upton, KB1CKT, Larry Damour, N1PHV,
Steve Ingham, N1HXO, and Lee Scott, AA1YN.
The main thrust of
the discussion was on future programs that would be interesting to all
the club members. Dale, AF1T, passed
along his program portfolio to Larry, N1PHV who will head the program committee
for 2002. Larry also volunteered to
check the mailbox at the Henniker Post Office on a regular basis. The programs that were discussed for the New
Year were:
1.
January: WMUR Television Tour and Jason, N1IIC will
set that up. The back –up program will
be “High Speed Meteor Scatter Communication” by Lee, AA1YN. (WSJT, see December issue of QST for an
article written by Joe Taylor, K1JT.)
2.
Steve,
N1HXO, suggested that a tour of the facilities where he works in Westford, Mass
could be a possibility in April or May.
The facilities are operated by the Air Force and MIT and include both
radar and radio astronomy functions.
3.
Future
program topics that were suggested:

Fire
Towers, next summer
·
MARS
(Military Affiliates Radio Systems)
·
Interfacing
computers and amateur radios
·
Fire safety
as is related to vehicular rescues
·
Revisit
PSK-31.
·
Continue
with the short tech tacks by members
Jason, N1IIC, will hand over the presidential gavel to President
Elect Shawn Upton, KB1CKT in a short ceremony at the next club meeting. The present officers will be asked to
briefly comment on their tenure in office.
